Author Spotlight with Free eBooks Daily

Here's a great Q&A not so much about the books but more about me, my life and the writing process. Much thanks to Sherrel of Free eBooks Daily.

  1. When I was growing up ... I dreamed of living with lions in Africa. Well, I worked with lions in Scotland and now live with wolves in Canada. Live is funny that way.

  2. I once ... wrestled a deaf tiger and fed a sick Polar Bear antibiotics out of a baby bottle!

  3. Readers would be surprised to know ... that I am a cyborg. Seriously. Okay, metal hips, but still, cyborg sounds way cooler.

  4. Everyday I ... am thankful for living in the time and place I live in. Life is easy for North Americans. We have no idea how easy.

  5. My most treasured memory is ... having my first child placed in my arms. I never knew what love was until that moment. It's a powerful thing.

  6. One of the biggest challenges in my life ... speaking up for myself with grace and authority, and not caving in because 'it's easier.' That's hard for women, I think.

  7. The best decision I made ... was to self-publish. The response gave me the courage to keep writing. Now I have an agent, a publishing contract and dreams as big as the universe. Maybe bigger.

  8. When I am not writing, I like to ... walk my many big dogs, listen to classical music, paint, read and dance with my kids.

  9. I have always wanted to ... go on an African safari.

  10. I first realized I wanted to be a writer ... when I was a little girl. My first book was about a hamster that accidentally went to space. The principal read it over the intercom at school! I think it was Grade 3.

  11. My favorite part of writing is ... when all the plot twists and story lines and clues come together and it just clicks in your head, like "Yes! I have a winner!"

  12. The most challenging aspect of writing ... MAKING all those plot twists and story lines and clues come together on the page! I lose so much sleep when it doesn't - literally writer's block.

  13. One of my writing quirks ... I write linearly, even though I'm an organic writer. In my mind, I have a start, a finish and a title and I write in a linear, cinematic style. I don't cut and paste scenes. I start and go.

  14. My favorite place to write ... Upstairs, in my master bedroom. Literally, it's 1/2 of the house. Very big with huge windows looking out onto trees and sky. It's my sanctuary.

  15. I am working on ... COLD STONE & IVY 2 - the sequel to COLD STONE & IVY which will be traditionally published. 2 of the big 5 have it right now.
